At this stage, I have two choices: (1) find a module that allows for note selection for cymbals as well as drums which is compatible with the DM8 or (2) find a VST drum app that will let me map the cymbals to match the fixed settings on the DM8 module. While setting up the module to match up with the desired VST drums, I had no problems the major roadblock came when I attempted to choose the cymbals that worked best with the drums - it was there I discovered that the notes to trigger the cymbals were fixed, which was a drag, since the cymbals that were triggered weren't very good. I realized the error of my ways when I attempted to use the kit to trigger various VST kits on my system - a necessity in light of the fact that the DM8 module lacks the sound quality I would need to consider using it in my recordings. Anyway, not being a drummer per se, I made my purchase from a position of what can only be called supreme ignorance (better than everyone else's!). I'll wait a second for the snickering to stop.

Not only does Addictive Drums have a Preset for the DM10 drum set which allows for easy setup, but it also allows for full customization of the kit. For more information regarding Addictive Drums please go HERE. There are adjustments for the Foot Close and Foot Open Sensitivity and HiHat StrokeType. Addictive Drums will allow for you to customize the Hi Hat as well by clicking on CC HiHat. The DM10 module allows for Hi Hat customization that will fit the needs of all different playing styles which is important. This can be done for every drum in the kit. As you can see from the image below, by clicking just below the drum image where the size and manufacturer is listed, you can toggle between different Snare types. Towards the top of the interface, the drum type, size, and manufacturer will be listed and pictured. You can also use the Map Preset buttons in the top left to toggle between the different drums. Once a different pad is triggered, the Addictive Drum interface will change and display the instrument that is mapped to that particular pad. This will successfully map the StrokeType selected to the drum pad that was triggered.

Once this button is highlighted in orange, strike a pad on the drum kit.

Select a StrokeType (this list can be seen in the image below) by pressing the Learn From MIDI Button. If you would like to adjust what a certain pad triggers, this can be done using the MIDI Learn function within the Plug-in.To the right there is a Keyboard View which also displays how the DM10 kit is mapped out.The image below displays an example of what the MIDI Monitor will display when one of the DM10 pads are triggered. Toward the bottom of the window there is a MIDI Monitor that will display what each trigger in the DM10 kit is sending for a MIDI Note (IN)and what instrument the trigger is assigned to (OUT).

This is where the DM10 Map Preset can be customized.
